Hi-Fructose

(submitted by whatherface)

Category: Publication

Description: Hi-Fructose "Under the Counter Culture" quarterly magazine was founded by artists, Attaboy and Annie Owens in 2005 and is published by Ouchfactory Yumclub Publishing. Hi-Fructose transcends genre and trend, assuring our readers thorough coverage and content that is relevant, informative and original. We showcase a mix of underground artists, emerging and rediscovered counter cultures and awe inspiring spectacles from around the world. Each beautifully designed, full color issue goes beyond the comfort zone of the "alternative" norm to deliver a diverse cross section of the most influential, genre bending and defining subversive art of our time as well as breaking new and amazing talents world wide. People who read Hi-Fructose are 18 to 35 year old forward moving men and women seeking to satisfy their cravings for new and unique underground art, happening just below the radar. Art that informs, rather follows trends in mainstream media including film, fashion and design. Hi-Fructose is distributed internationally and carried in major bookstores including Barnes & Noble, Borders and Virgin, as well as boutiques, galleries, art stores ad newstands worldwide.

William Lamson

(submitted by ArtsCollab Staff)

Category: Artist

Description: William Lamson creates artwork of chance. For example, he taped a pencil to a water-bottle that's attached to a fluttering kite. The kite meanders, tugging the string, and the pencil with it. The resulting drawings look great.

David Maisel

(submitted by Mike)

Category: Artist

Description: David Maisel's work explores the affect of humans' presence on their environment. His large scale photographs of urban sprawl are a bit overwhelming: big spaces created by people that bear the mark of tiny things made by people, like microchips.
