Description: University of California music professor and computer programmer, David Cope, has created a computer program named Emily Howell that has a personality of sorts. Emily Howell, the program, analyzes a wide range of classical and modern music, then "she" composes new pieces of music in her own style. Emily can also change her musical compositions in response to David Cope's and an audience's feedback.
Emily is the latest experiment of Cope's. Emily's forerunner was name EMI (standing for "Experiments in Musical Intelligence). EMI, in contrast to Emily Howell, was more primitive. EMI's function was to analyze a database of classical music (including Bach and Mozart), then create music pieces that were similar to the music of the original composers.
Emily Howell's (the computer program's) first release is coming soon, to be release by Centaur Records.
